Fourteen years after forming One Direction on “The X Factor,” music mogul Simon Cowell is launching a new search for a new boyband to rival their success.

Cowell is ditching the glitz and glamor of talent show auditions for a more back-to-basics approach. He’ll be scouring the UK for undiscovered talent, with auditions kicking off in Newcastle on July 4.

e entire process will be filmed for a potential documentary series, offering a glimpse into the often unseen world of talent scouting.

Cowell is hoping for a return to the days of boybands dominating the charts, lamenting the lack of UK artists breaking through internationally.

“The truth is since One Direction there hasn’t been a successful UK boyband,” he told the PA news agency. “The only way to do it is do what I used to do, go out and do it and audition and do it face to face and don’t have any pre-casting.”

For hopefuls, forget the TikTok route to fame. Cowell is looking for dedication and hard work. “Posting videos in your bedroom, it’s not enough,” he said. “You’ve got to get up, you’ve got to turn up, you’ve got to show up.”
