A mysterious visitor is racing through our solar system and it has scientists buzzing. Known as 3I/ATLAS, this massive 7-mile-long object is unlike any comet we’ve tracked before. Its strange trajectory and unusual motion have caught the attention of Harvard professor Avi Loeb, who believes it might be more than just a frozen rock.
Loeb, a leading voice in the search for extraterrestrial intelligence, points out that 3I/ATLAS doesn’t behave like typical comets. Its orbit seems slightly off, and more intriguingly, its movement appears to be subtly guided — almost as if it’s being steered. That’s led to a provocative possibility: could this be an alien spacecraft passing through our cosmic neighborhood?
While many in the scientific community remain cautious, Loeb argues that keeping an open mind is vital. “If we never look for extraordinary evidence, we’ll never find extraordinary truth,” he has said in past discussions on interstellar visitors. This isn’t the first time such speculation has emerged — Loeb also famously proposed that the 2017 interstellar object ʻOumuamua might have been artificial.
